Behind the Scenes of Bowhill’s Halloween Magic
The end of summer not only signalled the start of Autumn, but kick started the run up to Bowhill’s Halloween event. The preparations went well beyond the Visitor Services Team and brought in the help and skills of other estate teams.
The Gardens team helped with set up of the Walled Garden, Pumpkin Patch and other props around the trail, some of which were also made real by the Building Services team, who’s work on the Ice House brought life (or death?) to the lost souls and spirits of the forest.
Works Plus who have volunteered regularly at Bowhill, also helped with some trail clearance and reincarnated the three faces of See, Hear and Speak No Evil. The Marketing Team also did a fantastic job of creating the event media and the trail map was a brilliant addition, guiding visitors around the estate to the Pumpkin Patch.

Spooky Sights and Smiling Faces
Speaking with visitors there were many highlights including the craft stations and marshmallow toasting, but the real high point was the trail, telling the story of the greedy spider army and their taste for pumpkins!
The event was a resounding success, with several days sold out and as the friendly werewolf I waved goodbye to many smiling faces….. but I could still hear many a scream coming from the Ice House, the greatest sign of a successful Halloween event!
Halloween at Bowhill will most definitely return in 2025.
