Rory, Sarah and the Gardens Team did an amazing job creating a warm, welcoming and very festive space, with trees, garlands and even some old paraphernalia from the house setting the scene for the workshop. With freshly foraged cypress, fir and holly, the Kitchen smelt of the forest when we greeted visitors with a hot drink and a sweet treat, sitting down for a wee blether before making a start on the wreaths.

For those who have never made a wreath, we started by creating a base made of moss (a natural oasis), then added a deep layer of cypress foliage by cutting and pinning sprigs to the moss. This is the most prescriptive part of wreath making, so from that point on everyone is encouraged to go wild with the decorations… or not. It’s all about your personal taste at this point.
With a selection of cones, dry fruit, ribbon and holly berries (is it really a Christmas Wreath without holly?), the variety of wreaths always amazes me, with no two alike. Regardless of experience and confidence, everyone created something uniquely special, leaving very relaxed after a fun filled session and happy with their very merry Christmas Wreaths.
